I get Salmoned almost every time I post on livejournal. It's become amusing and almost sentimental to read and collect silly messages that get sent. I think the salmon is definitely better at starting conversations that the hat or taco ever was. I just got this one, i think it's my favorite. :)

I've got friends getting boinged! Check it out... my friend shadesonggot BoingBoinged! (Wow... that just sounds DIRTY, doesn't it? ;-P ) Go read the article... it's about what she and others are doing to support a rape crisis center for Blogathon '08. If you can help, please do. It's a great cause. Interesting thing is, 'Song and award-winning SF author Cory Doctorow (founder of Boing Boing and the author of that blog posting) are going to be on a panel about blogging at PiCon in August. I'm also a panelist, and I'm also on that panel. The question is... what the hell am *I* going to have to say after they're done!?!? 0_0 Current Mood: impressed |

From someone on PMM (bless his heart), paraphrased: "What's that? You're having trouble finding an OSO, and things didn't work out with the two guys you tried dating recently, even though you liked them well enough as people? You're now considering taking a break from actively looking for an OSO and just being with your husband for a while? Clearly what you need to do is date women instead of men. That way, your husband won't be threatened by another penis, you can keep that poly toaster, and the HBB action will spice up your marriage!"
Yes, that's the ticket. Obviously. It's not that, you know, taking a break from actively looking might be a good idea to help you focus on the love you have instead of the love you lack. It's not that clicking with ONE person romantically is hard, never mind MORE than one. It's just that you need to start chasing the ladies! That'll solve everything!
*rolls eyes*
The woman he was talking to seemed to have quite a good grip on things. I don't think his grip was so good. Especially not his grip on reality or social skills. |

I've been talking to a really awesome guy named Patrick. I might go meet him saturday. It's going to be another long distance thing if it works out, but that's ok, I'll manage, I've done it before. I'm content, and anxious, and nervous, hehe. We have so much in common we even share neuroses. :D I'm too tired to write much else right now. Night night. Swimming pools and all-nighters So obviously, I should have slept at some point last night, and proof that I didn't, and should've, is that I am actually going to post this. I won't say who should get the blame for this idea...only he's got the same first name as I have, he's not me, and you can see him at Pi-Con, which you should go to. And he is credited with being a pioneer of the "Panel In The Pool" concept. And suggested this variant for us: For some perverse reason I'm thinking of a Goth-Tossing Contest. Probably multiple teams, each consisting of two big beafy guys (in kilts?) who compete by seeing who can toss the small, pale white Goth Chick the furthest into the pool. Naturally you'd need to have an air mattress or some sort of pad in the launch zone incase they prematurely drop the Goth. And naturally the hotel lifeguard will object to the whole event. But just imagining it fills me with glee and i thought i'd pass the idea on to you... |

The Best Years Of My Wife This is my wife. She is cute. I miss her very much. I didn't realize how much I missed her until I saw a picture of her where I was not there when it was taken. Now she is cute and I am in San Diego and I want her cuddles very much. That is all. |

Gypsy band on tour So I am helping a band set up a number of gigs in September. They're looking to play the general East Coast - New England (esp. Boston), the South (anything south of Jersey is "South" to me, so PA (esp. Philly), DE, MD, and the like) - and the like. Pretty much anywhere but NYC, I think.
They're basically looking for places where they'd get a good welcome.
They're a gypsy-rock band. I tend to describe them as "Like Googol Bordello, only better." To their credit, they say that's unfair to the Bordello. :)
Anyone know a place or two? |

Odin's Day AdministrationHello to new readers grimmwire, mallory_blog, and tulleandtiaras! MedicalCautious optimism, though seven weeks of afternoons monsoons = not exactly helping. Oh hai!I went to the doctor, took a nap, went on an overnight date, came back, and I'm on BoingBoing. And Futurismic, and SFSignal, and Fantasy BookSpot, and Fantasy Book Critic, and... Let me tell you, if you ever need to get the word out on a charity endeavor, Matt Staggs is the guy to tell. So hi, new people! Blogathon starts at 9 AM on Saturday. In the meantime, check out the top post on my LJ to read other fiction by me. Feel free to sponsor me now if you'd like, and send me your e-mail receipt - we're having a drawing, and you could win Fabulous Prizes! I'm trying to figure out how to describe my LJ's regular non-Blogathon content, and I really can't (need more coffee!)... maybe longtime readers can help out in the comments! Also, I've allowed OpenID and anonymous commenting. You are welcome and encouraged to comment on the storybits! Comments keep a girl going 'round Hour 20. You are also welcome and encouraged to ooh and ah over the various artifacts; pics and links to auctions will be shown with the storybit they inspire. These are some very talented artists and craftspeople, and some of them made these artifacts specifically for this blogathon. Praise their hard work! Above all, please support BARCC as best you can. Even if you don't have money to sponsor me or bid on the artifacts, you might know someone who's been looking for the perfect little box or necklace or tote bag. Post about this on your blog, e-mail it around! Thank you. :) Otherwise...* Doctor appointment went fine. * Mamma Mia was sugar-coated crap, as I expected, but Hot Roboticist Boyfriend likes chick movies. * Elayna's cat is snoring. Blogathon stuff I gotta do* Make a shopping list based on the spreadsheet Team Venture filled out. * Get this house passably clean; locate lap desks and whatnot. * Pimp out more Team Venturites. * Answer e-mail. But before that...Shower, and work on story. Story has deadline. Deadline is soon after Blogathon. This is the first totally free day I've had in a while, and I must take advantage of it! The what with the who? Your result for The RPG Class Test... Arcane Trickster48% Combativeness, 87% Sneakiness, 82% Intellect, 19% Spirituality
Brilliant and sneaky: You are an Arcane Trickster!
Score! You have a prestige class. A prestige class can only be taken after you've fulfilled certain requirements. This may mean that you're an exceptionally talented person, but it probably doesn't.
Arcane Tricksters combine arcane magic with rogue skills and sensibilities. They use their magic to confuse their opponents or to augment their more mundane, roguish skills. If you thought it was annoying keeping an eye that that rogue, the Arcane Trickster is probably picking your pocket from the other side of the room.
Both smart and sneaky, you're probably the type of person that loves planning practical jokes... either that or knocking over banks. Take The RPG Class Test at HelloQuizzy Remember when it was just the theif/wizard who happened to be a bit of a bastard? |

Calorie cutting tip of the day! Instead of smearing mayo or mustard on your sandwich take advantage of the new low calorie salad sprays. I like the Kens Steakhouse Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. It has one calorie per spray. It gives you flavor and moisture without a lot of stuff you don’t need. |
